Spanish digital certificate

The digital certificate of the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (FNMT) allows the holder to identify themselves and sign electronically in procedures with the Spanish administrations: Seguridad Social, Agencia Tributaria, Extranjería and many others. The Firm assists Italian citizens with the application and the verification of identity.

Requirements

The certificate may be obtained by any Spanish or foreign citizen who is of full age, or an emancipated minor, and who holds a DNI or NIE. An Italian citizen must therefore hold a foreign national identification number (NIE).

Procedure

• Online application for the certificate, with the issue of an application code.
• Verification of identity at a registration office, presenting the application code and, for citizens of the Union, the registration certificate with NIE together with a passport or identity document.
• Download of the certificate on the computer from which the application was made.

Video identification is available to holders of a Spanish electronic DNI; for persons holding only an NIE, identity is as a rule verified in person.

Alternative: the Cl@ve system

The Cl@ve system also provides access to the online services of the Spanish administrations; for certain procedures the advanced registration level is required.
