Legal translation

The translation of legal texts requires knowledge of the legal systems of both the country of origin and the country of destination, as well as of their respective terminology. The Firm works with native-speaker translators experienced in the legal field.

• powers of attorney, notarial deeds and wills;
• court documents and orders, judgments and appeals;
• deeds of incorporation, articles of association and corporate documentation;
• expert reports, technical reports and legislation;
• documentation for immigration, divorce and succession proceedings;
• general terms and conditions and contractual clauses.

Professional translation or sworn translation

Not every legal translation needs to be sworn. The form depends on the use of the document:

• for administrative proceedings and before the Registro Civil in Spain, a traducción jurada is normally required;
• in Spanish civil proceedings a private translation is admissible unless challenged by a party, in which case the court orders an official translation;
• in Italy, foreign instruments intended to take effect before the authorities require a translation certified as true or asseverated;
• for contracts, correspondence and documents for internal or information purposes, a professional translation is, as a rule, sufficient.

Before accepting the instruction, the Firm verifies the form required, so that the translation can be used for its intended purpose.
